Secondary 4 is a rush for every student because it’s a cumulation of everything learned from secondary 1 to 3 plus a few new concepts at the start of the year.

This is when most students test the limits of cramming.

Now, cramming works if you’re already scoring A1 and the exam only tests basic questions. But that’s not the case for O levels. 

Every year, O levels presents 2 challenges: 

  1. 80% of the paper is filled with commonly tested basic questions. 
  2. 20% of the paper is filled with advanced questions to then differentiate the A from the B students. 

Here’s what many don’t realise:  

Due to grade moderation, to achieve an A requires a higher mark. Based on our data over the past 10 years, instead of scoring the usual 70 marks, students must score >80 to secure an A.
